1.It was felt that an unconditional surrender would guarantee Nazi Germany that they had lost the war and could never gain a grand victory.

2.The Eastern Theater suffered the greatest loss of life since the Soviet Union lost almost 20 million civilians, usually targeted because they sustained the war by industrial and agricultural production.

3.Allied civilians suffered the most while Axis civilians suffered the least. Mostly because most of the battles and massacres occurred in Allied territory.

4.Russia, China, Germany, and Japan were the most affected because most of their civilians died(Russia), the Rape of Nanjing(China), the killings of Jews(Germany), and the two atomic bombs(Japan). The U.S. was the least affected mostly because the war was not fought on their territory.

5.Hermann Goering, a powerful figure in the Nazi party, gave a terrifying answer to a “why” question, involving the purpose of how easily it is to control any nation’s people. Since he himself has done it with such ease, it gives off the idea that any nation is vulnerable to a blind and toxic decision.

Why was an “unconditional surrender” mandatory for the USA and other Allied Powers?
An unconditional surrender would ensure that the Germans knew that they had lost the war themselves therefore protecting the allied powers from the myth that arose in Germany after ww1. Also a surrender would leave the Americans free to prosecute Emperor Hirohito on charges of war crimes. As president truman say after the japanese surrender “This is the day when Fascism finally dies, as we always knew it would”
Which “theater” of the war suffered the greatest loss of life? Why?
The pacific theatre of the world suffered the greatest loss of life. The pacific theatre of the war suffered around 36 million casualties which accounts for about 50 percent of the war's deaths.
Who suffered most? Least?
The Axis civilians suffered the most during the war. The allied powers having suffered 85 percent of the war's casualties did not mean the allied power civilians suffered the most. In some cases in this world being dead was better than being alive. For example the jews had to endure the Holocaust, kept alive only to be tortured and torn away from their families. Also those civilians in japan that lost their friends and family due to the Hiroshima bomb were punished for the fault of their government. They had to live with the agony of losing their homes and lives, having their identity ripped away from them. The people of power on both sides suffered the least. They kept their hands clean while their people fought and died for them. They kept their hands clean but did they keep their morality clean?
Which nations were most affected? Which were affected the least? Why?
The Soviet Union was most affected. They lost 20 million of their people during the war. The Soviets lost more than 17,000 towns, 70,000 villages, and 32,000 factories due to the war. The loss of people and property led to food shortages during and after the war. Also the economy of the Soviet Union was drastically negatively impacted due to the war as well. The countries that remained neutral until the end like Afghanistan were affected the least. They suffered the least casualties and permanent losses.
Regarding the quote from Herman Goring:
What are we to take away from this quote? How is it relevant? POV?

Herman Goring was a high level official for the nazi party. We are to take away the terrifying amount of power some people are allowed to gain and the danger that power can do to the “good guys.” It is relevant because it shows how prideful and arrogant the Nazi people were and might give insight onto why the war lasted as long as it did. Herman Goring was a Nazi who believed in the superiority of his own race, this helps one to understand his prejudice actions and words reagrding the war.
Bonus: Complete this quote: When fascism comes to America, it will…
When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross
“And carrying a cross” is often added to the saying. I have also seen “And carrying a bible”

Bonus Bonus: What does the quote IMPLY? Agree or Disagree? Evidence?
The quote implies that when fascism comes to America every soldier who is able bodied will be dead before they allow fascism in america. After dying a soldier's life is celebrated by having his/her casket wrapped in a flag therefore the reference to being wrapped in a flag. I disagree because there are other bigger things that the soldiers of america are focused on.

Why was an “unconditional surrender” mandatory for the USA and other Allied Powers?
They would end the war early since German had always fight until the end and if no one was there to fight then war over.
Which “theater” of the war suffered the greatest loss of life? Why?
The eastern theater , most deaths, physically there in war
Who suffered most? Least?
[Allied Military, Axis Military, Axis Civilians, Allied Civilians] Why?
Most: Allied civilians
Least: Axis civilians
the line between who was the threat, civilian and military, was blurred...
Which nations were most affected? Which were affected the least? Why? Anything noteworthy with this data outside the questions I have asked here?
Most: Soviet Union, China- Allied/Germany, Japan- Axis
they were "physically" there
Least: US, UK (military deaths mostly) /Italy- Axis
US not "physically" there
Regarding the quote from Herman Goring:
What are we to take away from this quote? How is it relevant? POV?
it is easy to make people do what you want/ used the people (nazis and locals) to agree with actions
Herman Goring, a Nazi, argues that people can be manipulated into doing what is asked for in any political system. He has a disgust tone toward lower class civilians but says that it is easy to make them do as said, kind of implying that they are weak and survival of the fittest type of attitude.
Bonus: Complete this quote: When fascism comes to America, it will…
When fascism comes to America, it will cause a severe conflict between current ideas. ("connection": back in the days when conquered, people tried conquered peoples gods, ideas,rules.../ Chinese return from mongol rule (after fascist rule))...
Bonus Bonus: What does the quote IMPLY? Agree or Disagree? Evidence?
The quote implies survival of the fittest and reverse psychology techniques. I agree with his statement that people can eventually be convinced when instead of going nationalistic on them, go individualistic that is still connected by a thin string to nationalistic and you got them doing what you want. (Example: farmer, lands lost, your lands lost but still our lands, boom connection to respond/ from what I understood)

Why was an “unconditional surrender” mandatory for the USA and other Allied Powers?
An unconditional surrender indicated and assured that Germany wouldn’t get their victory, causing them to lose status as well as faith in the process. Their big loss would end in total disappointment as well as relief to neighboring nations.

Which “theater” of the war suffered the greatest loss of life? Why?
The Soviet Union (Eastern Theatre), sustained an incredible amount of casualties during WWII. Over sixteen million lives were lost in the war, over 15% of its population. China also lost over twenty million people during the conflict. This war didn’t just affect the lives of people, but end them.

Who suffered most? Least?
Allied military suffered the most, the Soviet Union alone lost over eight million lives meanwhile others such as the United States lost no more than four-hundred-thousand.

Which nations were most affected? Which were affected the least? Why? Anything noteworthy with this data outside the questions I have asked here?
Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and China were the most affected due to the fact that they lost the most population. The Soviet Union losing up to 15% of its population, similarly, China losing over twenty million people due to the war casualties. However, Germany lost civilian lives due to Nazism beliefs, where they executed their own population.

Regarding the quote from Herman Goring:
What are we to take away from this quote? How is it relevant? POV?
Hermann Goering, an influential political military individual as well as one with power, was one who was viewed with status and arrogance in the eyes of the Nazi. He played a prominent role in organizing the Nazi police state, as well as the establishment of concentration camps for the "corrective treatment" of individuals.

Why was an “unconditional surrender” mandatory for the USA and other Allied Powers?

Unconditional surrender was required by the Allies for a few reasons. One reason is to ensure that Germany, Italy, and Japan knew that they lost the war and that the war was completely over. If there were conditions for the surrender, there would be no way to hold any of the Axis Powers fully accountable for starting the war. I think the countries learned a lesson from World War I where the war was ended with an armistice that just ended the fighting and none of the countries like Germany, Austria-Hungary, or Ottoman Empire officially surrendered. Another reason to ask for unconditional surrender was to make the Axis agree to the terms set forth by the Allies. The Allies limited Japan's army, split Germany in half to give into the Soviet Union, and helped rebuild the newly democratic Italy. Unlike World War I, the losers of the war were not given all the repayment to fix the countries affected by the war. The last reason for unconditional surrender is to make sure that treaties were not made between certain nations and that surrender was to all the Allies involved. Making separate treaties could create problems between the Allies and respark the war.

Which “theater” of the war suffered the greatest loss of life? Why?
Who suffered most? Least?

The theater of war that had the most loss of life was the Eastern one. The Russians by far had the most casualties compared to any other country. The most difficult was the Pacific theater. The Japanese were so fierce and would not only never surrender but they would kill themselves if it meant winning the war. Many American lives were lost during the battles in the Pacific especially when you count Pearl Harbor. The least would be in Great Britain. Over 5000 people were killed in battles over in England but when compared to other battlegrounds, it was the lowest by far.

Which nations were most affected? Which were affected the least? Why? Anything noteworthy with this data outside the questions I have asked here?

The nations most affected were the Soviet Union because they had the most casualties at almost 17,000,000 and they were forced to scorch their own country to stop Hitler. Another nation most affected was Germany. This was a country that supported the extermination of Jews and killed over 12 million people while many of the citizens supported this while the whole world did nothing for many years.
While Germany didn't have the number of casualties the country was now split in 2 and families/friends were separated and this once proud nation was under the supervision of the Soviets and the Allies. East Germany would suffer for over 40 years under the Communist form of government while the West was prosperous under a democratic form of government. One last nation affected greatly was Poland. Poland was not only taken over by the Germans but many of the concentration camps were located in their country. To make things worse, Poland was made communist by the Soviet Union and as a result the people lived in poverty and oppression for over 40 years after World War II.
The nations affected the least were in South America. Many of the South American countries only sent a few troops or ships to help the Allies. I feel that South American countries wanted to send something so that when the Allies won, they could get something for "helping".

Regarding the quote from Herman Goring:
What are we to take away from this quote? How is it relevant? POV?

What we take away is that Goering tells everyone how easy it is to manipulate the population of people in a country. He says that leaders can control what people think and how to react the way they want them to. He also shows that racism is something that can be preached, learned and taught to people. When people are scared and desperate, they often will abandon their better judgement if they are given the promise of a better life. It's easy to make scapegoats out of anyone if you keep repeating it and making it believable. The quote is relevant because as much as we think this can't ever happen again, it can. Leaders in other countries still try to manipulate their people and provide scapegoats for their country's weaknesses. An example is North Korea where Kim Jong Un blames the US for their problems and gets people to support him out of terror. It's also relevant because his quote is arrogant which most tyrants are when it comes to way they behave and act. POV is that Goering believed what he was doing was right and justified. He believed that his race was superior and that what his country was doing would last 1000 years into the future as a model of how to run your country (or empire in their vision).

Implies that a person can rise to the level of a fascist dictator from within their own country and many people wouldn't even see it coming. These type of leaders use nationalism, patriotism or religion to push their agenda on the masses that will follow them out of desperation or lack of Education. I agree with the statement because the majority of dictators in history had the support of the people when they first rose to power. It was only after their abuse of power that people begin to realize the mistake they made. In today's society, a part of the population thinks our president is acting like a fascist because he makes decisions about building a wall or immigration or how to spend money without the full support with our Congress or the voters. I personally dont believe Trump is a fascist or that fascism will come to America but we need to be careful how much control our government has especially if we have to give up some of our freedom.

The "unconditional surrender" was mandatory for the USA and other allied powers because it ensured Germany's loss.
The eastern theatre suffered the greatest loss of life, the USSR alone suffered about 27 million casualties.
The allies suffered the least, and the axis suffered the most. The countries from the axis that had the greatest population loss were the Soviet Union, China, and Germany. The main players from the allies who had the least deaths were the U.S, United Kingdom, and France.
The nations most affected were those Axis powers, whose countries had more casualties, lost more resources, and overall lost the war and dealt with the consequences. The allied powers suffered the least as they won and had a greater military advantage with less casualties.
Herman Goring, a Nazi leader who was being tried in Nuremberg, focused on how easily persuaded civilians will be to avoid war and turn away from troubles that'll take away from their routine lives. Being a leader in conquering multiple states and being apart of the genocide in Jews, he says that by creating a scapegoat and making a declaration of trouble, civilians will give power to the higher authorities that then will act with full control. This allowed for the Nazi's inhumane actions to continue and citizens to ignore the oblivious.

Unconditional surrender was mandatory from the Allied Powers in Germany in order to prevent further myths such as those that ensued following WWI, and to make it absolutely clear that Germany was militarily defeated. Following WWI, the German Stab in the Back Myth formed. This suggested that the Germans never lost WWI, and instead, they were betrayed. German propaganda often portrayed the Jews as the traitors, contributing to the German hatred of Jews during the Holocaust and WWII. Japan also desired to keep its Asian holdings, which the U.S. would not allow, as it is why Japan started war with the U.S. in the first place. The Allied Powers also wanted the dethroning of militaristic leaders and power.

The Eastern Theater suffered the greatest loss of life because the Soviet Union alone suffered an estimated 27 million total deaths in the war.

Who suffered the most? Allied Civilians
Poland by far lost the most civilians to the Holocaust, with an estimated 3 million deaths. Soviet Union had more than 1 million jews killed in the holocaust, in addition to 5.7 million non-Jewish Soviet citizens, and around 3 million non-Jewish Soviet prisoners of war taken by the Axis powers. On the other hand, it is estimated that only about 173,000 Axis civilians were killed during the Holocaust. The Allied Powers suffered an estimated total of over 25 million civilian casualties, making up 58% of WWII deaths.

Who suffered the least? Axis Civilians

Most Affected: Soviet Union (suffered the most casualties), Germany (divided) Poland (lost 20% of population and suffered the most Holocaust deaths) Japan (atomic bombings)
Least Affected: United States, United Kingdom, Italy

Hermann Goring, German military leader and one of the most powerful figures of the Nazi party, which is known for using propaganda in order to produce nationalism and hate for those they wish to portray as the enemy. Because of the Nazi’s success in gaining support from its people using rhetoric, this explains Goring’s perspective that even if the people don’t want to go to war, they can be easily manipulated and convinced to go to war by their leaders.

When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

This quote implies that when fascism comes to America, its supporters will be the conservative Christians. I disagree. Of course, it will be supported by those of the extreme right wing. And it may even be supported by people waving crosses around and proclaiming to be Christian. However, most Christians define Christianity as being Christlike. Jesus certainly would not have been fascist. While most Christians are conservative, the majority of Christians believe in the Bible more than they believe in politics. Christians who are Christlike are not racist, and do not believe that they are superior, nor do they believe that Christianity should be forced upon the population. I, of course can not speak for all Christians, but this is my point of view, and the point of view of the Christians I am close with.
