Daft Punk "Robot Rock" from Humans After All - 2006
  • Genre – French house, disco
  • Origin – Paris France
  • Years active – 1993-present
  • Important people – Thomas Dangauter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo
  • Quote - Looking like robots is not like looking like an idol. One doesn’t look like a human being but more like a mirror –– the energy people emanate is bounced off the stage… and in the process everybody has a good time together… the focus is not on us. The visors are very, very tinted. I can hear the clamour but I hardly have any visual memory of the tours, apart from looking at our controllers
  • They had a band in 1992 called Darling and they got the name from an album from the Beatles
  • In 1993 someone who was giving them a review told them that “that funk” and then they got the name daft punk but they did not where the notorious helmets with black visors yet
  • Then September 9th at 9:09 am one of there samplers exploded and when the two men woke up there had become robots
  • There first helmets had LED’S on the visors the could light up and show different patterns and they had to were bulky backpacks to power them and they had gauntlets that could control them and Thomas’s helmet had a smile
  • Then they got rid of the backpacks and got very darkly tinted visors and wore black leather suits with there name on the back
  • Many people thought they were done after there record human after all because it did not do to well and they had not toured in 10 years but in 2006 at Coachella they had a huge show and then came out with the album random access memories

Yes “Roundabout (Remastered Version)” from Fragile (Deluxe Edition) - 2008
➢Released: 1971 (Originally)
➢Genre: Progressive Rock
➢Origin: London, England
➢Years Active: 1968-1981, 1983-present (hiatus 2004-2008)
➢Past Members: Jon Anderson (lead singer), Chris Squire (bassist), Peter Banks (guitarist), Tony Kaye (keyboardist), Bill Bruford (drummer)
➢Current Members: Jon Davison (lead singer), Billy Sherwood (bassist), Steve Howe (guitarist), Geoff Downes (keyboardist), Alan White (drummer)
➢Interesting Facts:
○When Yes started back in 1968, they had performed original tracks and rearranged covers of pop, rock,  jazz, and blues songs.
○In 1970, they changed a sense of direction, which led to a series of very successful albums in the progressive rock genre, such as The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge.
○The success of the original Roundabout cemented their popularity for many decades.
○In 2012, the remastered version of the song was later included as one of the ending themes  for the anime adaptation of the famous manga series called JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
➢Quote: “I know when I started I would’ve been happy to sound like the Beatles or Joe Tax or whoever. You want sound like most bands, you want to sound like their records and that’s how you learn your chops.” - Jon Anderson
➢I like this song because of how fitting it’s used in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and also because of how incredible this song is. In my opinion, it shows how cool progressive rock can be with a definitive sound.
The reason I chose this song is because I feel like most people nowadays don’t quite recognize Yes as much, despite being one of the most influential progressive rock bands of all time.
